Positioned between Victoria Harbor and Central Business District, the Four Seasons Hong Kong doesn't disappoint, with Michelin-starred dining, a decadent spa and spacious suites.
While in route to Thailand, we decided to extend our layover in Hong Kong, by about five days. Last time we were in Hong Kong, we were in the middle of a sweltering and very humid summer, so we were anxious to see what it was like in Winter and sneak in some of our favorite restaurants! This is what I love about Hong Kong, you can visit for a few days, spend a month, or just pop by for a day. You’ll always see something shocking, discover something new and eat to your hearts content!
Once we arrived to the airport, we hopped on the airport express, which is a subway line, that takes you from the airport to various parts of the city. After about 40 minutes, we arrived in Central, where we met a driver from the Four Seasons, who grabbed our bags and took us to the hotel. Now to be honest, the hotel is located a few minutes away walking from the station, but it’s super confusing to find, especially if it’s your first time and you have heavy luggage.
Like everything else in Hong Kong the Four Seasons is BUSY! As soon as we walked through the front door we were surrounded by organized chaos. From people scurrying around, lounging in the various seating areas, to even a wedding taking place, there was something happening at every corner! It felt like everyone was saying , welcome to Hong Kong!
The hotel is located in the Central Business District (CBD) and the ideal place to stay if you want to be within walking distance of major sights, public transportation or just feel the energy of something new. It is also adjacent to the IFC mall, which is home to countless designer boutiques from the well-know to more independent labels. Victoria Harbor is around the other corner, where you can easily take a ferry to Kowloon Bay and snap some impressive skyline images.
The outdoor pool is one of the highlights of the Four Seasons. Even though it rained for a majority of our stay we were still able to enjoy the incredible views. Overlooking the harbor it was easy to forget you were in a major city, yet you could still over your shoulder and see the tall, brightly lit skyscrapers.
Right next to the pool area was the spa and nail bar (which is now my favorite mani/pedi place). I needed to get a little spruced up for our upcoming trip to Thailand and after being told the estheticians could work miracles, I made an appointment for a mani/pedi. Though the cost is pretty pricey for a gel manicure and pedicure (around $200 USD) it was well worth it. Not only did I have cocktails served during the entire process and the polish was absolutely lovely, but they were able to make my feet feel baby butt smooth...talk about feeling like a new women!
During our time at the Four Seasons we stayed in one of the Grand Harbor View Suites, and let me just say it did not disappoint! The room was huge, definitely more space than we needed, but it was nice to be able to spread out. Our floor to ceiling windows overlooked the harbor giving impeccable views of the river and Kowloon Bay! The decor was a bit traditional and classic and the layout and furniture made it very comfortable to get work done. Another plus - all of the amenities were by Biologique Recherche, a fabulous French brand.
We also had access to the Executive Club, located on the 45th floor and had the best views of the city! Every time we went up for a visit, the team members knew our names and even our favorite drinks. They would show up to the table with a Negroni and glass of ice cold champagne, to make sure we were comfortable! Access to the club, is definitely a must, if you're looking for some privacy and an intimate place to unwind, or just catch up on work
There are some pretty amazing restaurants in Hong Kong and the FS Hong Kong is home to not one, but two Michelin rated restaurants. There is Caprice, a two starred elegant French restaurant, and Lung King Heen, the first Chinese restaurant to be awarded three Michelin stars! So of course, we had to see what a 3 star Michelin Chinese restaurant was like.
The ambiance is elegant, yet comfortable and it’s a place where everyone knows your name. You might be tempted to order everything off the menu, but stick with the tasting menu and absolutely get the wine pairing. Our sommelier was so knowledgeable and taught us so much about Asian wine and Sake, with a few extra surprises.
Even if it’s not your first time in Hong Kong, staying in central is so much fun and definitely a must if it’s your first time. Just head out the door and start exploring on foot. You’ll come across street food vendors, stalls offering various knick-knacks and some beautiful sights, like Man Mo Temple, Hollywood Road and Lan Kwai Fong where you can pick up next years Halloween costume.
