With exclusive superhero experiences, large rooms and a location within walking distance of both Disney parks, the Disney Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel delivers both fun and convenience.
Paris is a city famous for its art, history and romance, but it’s also a great place for families if you know where to go. Disneyland Paris is the most visited amusement park in Europe and with two theme parks full of rides, shopping, entertainment and food, it’s a guaranteed way to delight kids (and kids at heart!) with that Disney magic.
We have two boys (ages 2.5 and 5) and decided to celebrate our oldest son’s birthday with a visit to Disneyland Paris. While we knew our time in the parks would be great, we didn’t want that experience to end once we returned to our hotel.
We booked the Disney Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel and if your kids are superhero fans, this hotel is AMAZING! It has a modern style with nods to New York throughout, but the real appeal is for all those superhero details – from character meet-and-greets to artwork throughout, it makes you feel like you’ve stepped right into a movie.
Location
One of the main advantages of staying at Disney Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel has to be its location. It’s one of the closest hotels to the entrance of the amusement parks and the Disney Village area. It’s only a Thor’s hammer throw away from the parks!
To get here, you’ll likely arrive via train. Once you get off at the main train station, you’ll go through security to enter Disneyland Village where you’ll find the entrance to both parks as well as hotels and lots of retail and dining options. This hotel was located right inside Disneyland Village, so we could actually walk from the train station or easily take a shuttle. We arrived at night and everything was lit up – it really set that Disney magic tone for our visit!
The location of Disney Hotel New York is a huge plus for families – especially those traveling with little ones. During the day, we would go to the parks and then when it was nap time, we could easily walk or take the shuttle back to the hotel to rest up for the evening. It’s only about a 10-minute walk back which is doable with strollers or young kids.
If you have kids who want to eat in the evenings or grab a late-night treat, the hotel’s location near Disney Village is a huge perk. All the stores and restaurants here stay open later than the ones in the parks. It means you can easily grab something on your way back to the hotel after a full day in Disneyland Paris.
Another advantage to the location is that it’s right on the shores of Lake Disney. There are huge superhero statues near the water and lots of benches if you want to sit and relax. The area near the lake and another grassy area near the hotel (that reminds me of Central Park) are especially stunning at night with all the lights.
Property and Design Features
This hotel is probably the most luxurious of all the Disney hotels in Paris and even though the theme is “superhero” it’s done in a very aesthetically pleasing way. The details are chic and modern, so as an adult you don’t feel overwhelmed with kid-type stuff, yet it’s still entertaining for the kids.
To make the most of your stay here and keep all your tickets and bookings together, I highly recommend downloading the Disneyland Paris app and connecting your hotel booking. It will make your life easier and allow you to make reservations at restaurants and more!
You know as soon as you walk in that this is a special property. There are more than 350 pieces of superhero artwork – making it the world’s largest collection! That New York refinement throughout lends itself to luxury perfectly. It feels like stepping into high-class Manhattan with modern, stylish touches in the rooms and common areas.
The real magic of this hotel has to be the Superhero Station. This is the ONLY hotel at Disneyland Paris with an actual superhero meet-and-greet. This exclusive experience at the hotel lets kids meet Marvel superheroes and take a few pictures. This is where you’ll get those “wow faces” from the kids! You must book a reservation for the Superhero Station in advance and this can be done through the Disneyland Paris app.
We visited in December and found not just the Marvel décor to be on point, but the holiday decorations too! There were lights and decorations throughout the hotel and all were done in a very elegant way to get you in the holiday spirit, but not feel cluttered or overwhelming.
The Rooms
We stayed in a Superior Room which was pretty spacious given that it’s their “entry-level” room. There are larger suites available like Presidential Suites or you can book a room in the “Empire State Club” which offers slightly upgraded design touches.
Since our kids are still small, we didn’t spend all day at the actual parks because of the need for naps and breaks. This meant we actually spent a good amount of time in the room and using the hotel facilities. It was really important to us when we booked that the hotel we chose had enough space for us and some fun activities to do and Disney Hotel New York delivered!
We were really impressed with the size and style of the Superior Room. The grey and black color scheme of the hotel carries into the rooms with pops of red. And of course, some superhero artwork on the walls!
There were two Queen-size beds and our boys slept in one, while my husband and I slept in the other. The bathroom was nice and large and there was a little seating area with chairs we could snuggle up in after a long day. My only critique would be that I wish our room had robes. After a busy day walking through the parks, especially during the winter months which is when we were there, I would have loved to take a hot shower and cozy up in a robe!
For the Kids
When I ask our kids what they liked most about Disneyland Paris, they say the superhero hotel! Safe to say it was a big hit for our kids.
The Superhero Station has to be the highlight of Disney Hotel New York. It’s a large space with little cubicles where families can get the perfect photo opp. Get your very own picture hanging on the ceiling in Spiderman’s room, step into Ironman’s boots or pose with Thor’s hammer. You can also meet your favorite superheroes there too! What a thrill for kids of all ages.
For budding artists, the Marvel Design Studio is another unique experience in this hotel. Kids have the chance to draw, play and even learn how to be comic book artists! It’s this fun and really immersive space that’s perfect to wind down a day.
Another huge hit with the kids is the Metro Pool. It carries the New York theme perfectly to make you feel like you’re in the subway. The pool is large, beautiful and heated! It has indoor and outdoor sections, but since it was freezing cold outside, we stayed indoors and loved every minute.
Another advantage to booking with this hotel is if you have kids who want to get in some time on the rides before it starts getting crowded. If you’re a guest at the Disney Hotel New York you unlock access to extra Magic Time. This means you enter Disneyland Park one hour before it opens to the public from 8:30-9:30 a.m. You can get a lot in during the hour because there are basically no line-ups!
Dining
There are lots of restaurants and places to eat in Disney Village and in the parks, but sometimes it’s nice to have a meal at the hotel and then head right up to your room to relax after. Luckily some great restaurants inside Disney Hotel New York cater to a variety of appetites – including stuff kids will like.
Manhattan Restaurant is an Italian restaurant that is a little more upscale but still has a casual and comfortable feel to it. Order up some fresh pasta or creamy risotto and enjoy a taste of Italy while dining under the stunning Asgardian chandelier.
A spot where everyone can order exactly what they like, the Downtown Restaurant offers a buffet featuring Chinese, American and Italian stations with yummy food at each. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet here with its variety of sweet and savory foods and vegan choices too. The whole place felt laid back, so it was nice to enjoy a meal with the kids here.
The Skyline Bar is beautiful! It has this creative setting that makes it seem like you’re at the top of a skyscraper overlooking New York. They serve classic American cocktails here and I could have easily seen my husband and I enjoying a couple if we had a babysitter for the kids.
Final Thoughts
Disney Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel is a fantastic choice for families – whether you are huge superhero fans or just looking for a unique experience. Staying here means the fun of Disneyland Paris doesn’t end once you leave the parks.
It’s a beautiful hotel with all the amenities and style the adults are looking for and fun stuff for the kids! Plus, given that it’s so close to the entrance of the Disneyland Paris parks, it’s a very convenient spot to stay. I can definitely see us returning in the future!
